A Department of Defense Youth Program
This innovative project-based camp gave students a behind- the- scenes look at what it takes to run a college campus. They didn’t just learn about it, they became creators.
Throughout the week, students were able to dream, imagine and design their own universities. They created blueprints, designed logos and mascots and tackled real-world college campus challenges through various STEM activities and lessons. All of our hands-on activities/ lessons allowed them to solve fun, unexpected problems that their campus might face, now today they will build a full model of their campus.
We are so excited to see what they come up with!

Our 5th graders are back from an incredible week at BASECAMP at Hunter Army Airfield — and what an adventure it was! From coding challenges to rocket launches, they explored the world of STEM through hands-on activities, teamwork, and lots of curiosity.
Way to go, 5th grade — future scientists, engineers, and innovators in the making!
We had the pleasure of having 3 heavy hitters in the building to conclude their 5 day session at STARBASE Savannah.
The Honorable Pete F Hoffman Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army – Coastal Georgia spoke to students during graduation about how important STEM is and how it is used throughout several workforces.
Mr. Travis Mobley, Deputy Garrison Commander of HAAF also spoke to students about various STEM Careers on HAAF and how STEM is important on the installation.
Retired Brigadier General Steve Westgate – President of STARBASE Foundation- non profit organization that supports STARBASE Savannah.
The students from St. Peter’s had AMAZING questions for our guest speakers and really enjoyed the opportunity to speak with them.

What a pleasure it was to be the guest speaker at this week’s STARBASE Savannah graduation on Hunter Army Airfield. Mrs. Elander’s 5th grade class from St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School experienced a week of hands-on STEM activities with applications in the real world. It was obvious that they were not only having fun, but also learning. And I especially enjoyed their inquisitive questions! Great job STARBASE
SAVE THE DATE! Please ignore all other dates and times from the previous flyer posted because of a typo.
STARBASE Savannah will be hosting another Spring Break Camp this year. Be on the lookout for when registration opens in March! 😁

Did you know…
STARBASE Savannah is located on Hunter Army Airfield – the first one ever to have been established on an Army installation.
The goal of STARBASE is to raise interest and improve children’s knowledge and skills in science, technology, engineering and math. Local fifth graders from across Savannah experience a week of “hands-on” activities and interaction with military personnel to explore careers and observe applications in the real world.
Last week, we had Otis J. Brock, III Elementary School here with us! Ms. Douglas’s class was interviewed about what they want to be when they grow up and how it relates to STEM! It was a pleasure having this group with us 😊
